Classical kitchen design - reinterpreted

NEW CLASSIC

The 1920s are providing inspiration for the 2020s. We call this development of the Art Deco style “New Classic”. The typical features of Art Deco are a clear geometric style idiom, which reached its peak in the 1920s. Artists and aesthetic icons like Matisse, Picasso or George Braque are rightly still celebrated today. The elegant interplay of clean shapes, colours and surfaces is the distinguishing feature of this style. The result is a unique, independent design that stands out from the crowd and is truly memorable. The world of “New Classic” offers function and lifestyle comfort for your kitchen, paired with a touch of nostalgia.

Style-defining elements

New Classic also includes details that underline the independent character of these kitchens without creating a rustic feel:

  • Handleless glass doors for bottom, wall and side cabinets feature an impressive frame design with an attractive double structure.

  • Bronze-tinted glass, harmonising perfectly with the frame, reinforces this elegance.

  • The more conventional handles are also based on a clear stylistic idiom - sometimes they are oval with matching subtly playful lines, sometimes their lines are completely straight.

  • Graphic cornices, simple light strips and pilasters with subtle fluting for an elegant end piece on the side are perfect for a purist design.

  • Protruding base elements, which make the cabinets look like free-standing furniture, also contribute to the distinctive look.

Which fronts and other components from the Nolte Küchen product range are ideal for designing a New Classic style? We have put together some tips and ideas:

Clear stylistic idiom

The TORINO LACK features an impressively subtle style with clean shapes. Its soft mat lacquer surface and the striking graphic design with an offset frame make it a real eye-catcher. As part of the Nolte Küchen mat lacquer concept, it is available in 19 colours.

The bronze age, revived

Manganese bronze surfaces will let you revisit this metal design element. Glass doors, handles and taps can be integrated as you see here. Glass bottoms and interior lighting create a surprisingly modern effect.

Handles, drawers & co.

For a perfect overall design: Base units with chute-style drawers and circular handle recesses

Twice the style with a kitchen island

The solid wood drawers are a real eye-catcher. Their handleless, minimalist design draws the eye to the area between the lacquer fronts, where the drawers emphasise the horizontal lines – not just on the kitchen island.

Cultivated contrasts

The New Classic style thrives on harmonious contrasts. Wood plays an important role. You can also use the two colours Oak Pinot and Oak Barolo for wall shelves or cross inserts (wall unit).
